new year, new semester

Well, it's time to start spring semester. Oooh boy :) So far it has been tons of fun :) Kicked off the new semester on Sunday by going out to dinner at Applebees for the first time with my peeps MJ and Kevin. That was tons of fun, and super yummy :) Monday, the new semester started. Yay..... :p It's actually not that bad for me. I don't have very hard classes, well they aren't that hard so far :p I've got two actual art classes, an art theory class, math, institute, and a art lecture and a computer class that I would never take if it wasn't required for graduation :p The only bad thing so far is that on Monday and Wednesday I don't get time to eat lunch until about 3 in the afternoon. But besides that, the semester seems to be going good :)

I went to the first boys basketball game of the year against Weber State on Thursdsay. I totally skipped my art lecture class to go, but it wasn't much of a hard decision for me :P And even though we lost the game, ( because the refs are stupid ) I did get a free "Rivalry Red" t-shirt that was made just for that game. Come to think of it, that was the first non high school basketball game I had ever attended :P

We had a casino night as part of the welcome week for spring semester on Friday. It was super fun. And just like last semester, I wore another of Annekke's dresses :P  And since I have no clue how to gamble or any of that stuff, I gave my chips to Kevin :P But somehow Matt, who has never gambled in his life either, managed to win the I-pad mini in the raffle at the end. Beginners luck I say. :p Oh and did I mention that Kevin wore basically the best shirt ever?? It's hard to see in the picture, but it has fish on it :) And the bow tie makes the whole thing just that much more awesome :)

And as part of the welcome week, they also had a "what suits you" dance on Saturday. I guess the DJ that was there is some super well known guy, DJ Marcus Wing. I've never heard any of his stuff until then, but it was pretty good stuff. I went all out 80's, but that shouldn't surprise anyone :p Annekke went in "hairspray" 60's and Corlissa was a 60's rocker chick.  It was fun, but after about an hour, none of us could hear, so we came back home.

I saw the most scarring movie of my life on Sunday. A bunch of friends were going because MJ works at the theater and she got us free tickets, so I said 'what the hay' and went. The movie of choice? The Haunted House. Little did I know until about half way through the movie that it was rated R, and for reasons that it should be. MJ and I were just looking at the floor during about a third of the movie because what was on screen wasn't what we expected at all. My reccomendation? NEVER ever go see it. Although it does have it's funny parts, it isn't worth it. Never again......

On a happier note, a bunch of us had a movie night/ attempted all nighter last night :) We got through Thor, She's the Man, and Salt before the last of us fell asleep at around 3:30. Before you think that three movies wasn't enough, we had breaks in between too, so don't judge :)  Plus MJ made the empty side of her room into a mini theater with a couch, made out of the unused bed, and a $15 t.v. we bought at D.I. with a DVD player :) And, yes, I am wearing my footies :) Be jealous :p

I am going to try and make blogging a weekly/biweekly thing instead of once every 4 months like it has been, so my posts aren't novels :P

survival of a college freshman

Well, December was just peachy :) My school held a "Yule Ball" and it was just fantastic :) Corlissa moved into our room (taking up Ashley's empty spot), Institute held a Christmas/Closing social dance, I survived my first college finals, went home for Christmas break, watched my best friend's band play on New Years, and just had a blast :)

The Yule Ball was just fabulous! Here at SUU, we have a conference center that looks just like the Great Hall from Harry Potter, so the RHA decided to hold a Yule Ball. Oh my, it was quite a party :) I didn't get there till a little later, but I heard that they had a live snake that people were taking pictures with. I wish I was ready to be there when it started :P But it was still super fun even though I was about an hour late.

The institute closing Christmas social was pretty fantastic too :) Me and Corlissa walked to it ( which by the way, was FREEZING cold ). There was a dance from about 9 to 11, with a Christmas photo booth and soup, then we all walked across the street to the historic theater on Main, and watched movies. There were two options, Elf and Arthur Christmas. We obviously chose Elf, because it is one of the BEST Christmas movies ever made. That got done around 1 a.m., and Corlissa and I walked back to the dorm. It felt like I was walking through a freezer all the way home :P And it was kinda, well, really creepy. Walking home at 1 in the morning isn't exactly the most comforting thing in the world, especially in a city where you're not used to the streets and such. But we made it back in one piece :p

I survived my first semester of college, through all the finals, and didn't even gain the freshman 15 :P I didn't have too many finals, so it wasn't that bad for me. I had an art final, a history final, and a math final. One of the great things about being an art major is that most of your finals are showing your portfolio and such things like that. But I made it to Christmas break :)

Oh Christmas break, the break that I was waiting for all semester :P The adventures, and non-adventures I went on alone, and with my peeps :)
I finally got to see my bestie Austin.
Oh how I missed that boy. We went to see Wreck it Ralph, along with my lovely sister Heidi. Oh that was fun :) That movie is quite good :)

Christmas was great :) I got a lot of zebra stuff :P But that's because my parents know me oh so well. I got some yellow skinny jeans, some shirts, zebra footie pajamas, a mug that looks just like a camera lens, some perfume, a pea-coat, a zebra bowl and glass, and a headband and necklace made by my sisters. And I just loved being able to be with my family for the three weeks I was home :)

I was so happy that I was able to make it down to Salt Lake to see the lights at Temple Square :) Austin, Amelia, Heidi, Brandon, and I all took a lovely trip to SLC on the Sunday before they took all the lights down :) It was super cold, and we almost got locked in at the parking garage that took us forever to find, but it was so much fun :)

I was craving mango salsa for the longest time, but Costco requires a card to buy anything and Walmart is stupid and doesn't sell it, so I decided to take matters into my own hands and make some myself :) It was pretty tasty for a first attempt if I do say so myself :)

I spent New Years with some good friends in Provo :) Conner, Shay, and Bonne Nuit. Nothing gets better :) It was a pretty good New Years, even though I still haven't gotten that New Years kiss ;P

2012 was peachy, but I hope that 2013 has swedishlyafrotastimagical things in store for me :)

october: the month of..... school?

So now that October and November are over, and my last update was about September, I figured I should tell the world how much fun college is :p
Starting out with October. Oh good old October. Honestly, nothing too extremely exciting happened. I went home for the weekend of the 6th because Annekke's birthday was on the 4th and her parents were coming to get her so I tagged along. Went and saw Hamlet on the 8th. It was actually really good. I'm not really one for Shakespeare, but I quite enjoyed this one. Especially since they used the TRON soundtrack as the opening music. :) I did a photo shoot with the Stott family on the 13th. It went really well. The pictures turned out good, as you can tell from the preview picture :) The little blonde boy in the middle is the cutest kid in the entire universe! Such a cutie.
I went home for fall break from the 20th to the 23rd. It was a very welcome break from school. And sometimes you just need free laundry :p
Halloween was a complete bore. I went to an Institute dance on the 26th but it was kind of boring. But at least I looked freaking gorgeous!! I went to a Catholic thrift store just off Main Street and bought the dress for $4. Yup, pretty cheap :) Annekke did my hair for the night. Took around 30 bobby pins to hold it up, but it was sooooo pretty :)I wish I would of gone to the Scream. Next year......

Not many people dress up for Halloween in college apparently. I dressed all up in my 80's attire, and Annekke was apparently Demi Lavato, but she looked normal so no one could tell. But hey, it was an excuse to let my inner self free :p SUU had a fantastic Halloween dinner though. It was "clue" themed and delicious! I loved it. But after dinner, I sat at home by myself. Most boring Halloween ever recorded in my life.

And now on to the slightly more exciting November :)
I had a date with Jonah on the 6th. We were going to go bowling, but when we got there we discovered it was league night until 9, so we changed our plans. In the end, we ended up going to see Wreck-it-Ralph. Such a good movie! I say everyone should go see it! :) I had a super fun time :) Me, Annekke, Stephen, and Lia went home the weekend of the 10th for Joey Carringella's mission farewell. He is in New York, New York. Super fun. He had a party at Classic Skating on the Saturday, so we all went. I saw a bunch of friends that I hadn't seen in forever. It was nice. Joey's farewell talk was absolutely fantastic. I felt the Spirit the whole time.
Then the next week I got all registered for spring semester. Stressful stuff. I'll be taking 17.5 credits. 9 of them are for art. I am supposed to take at least 9 credits of art each semester because I am an art major. So that should be at least kind of fun.
I went to the SUU Ballroom Company's concert both the 16th and the 17th. With one ticket. :p I'm never telling how. Bahahahaha. The concert was really really good. Stephen ( in the picture ), Lia, Jordan, Aaron and Matt were all in it, so I went with Corlissa and Annekke to support them :)
Thanksgiving break was kind of boring, but super warm. My family drove down and picked me up and continued on the way to Arizona to spend the week at my grandparents' house. It was such nice weather considering the fact that it snowed a couple days before.
( but hasn't since ). I saw Breaking Dawn part 2 with my cousin Courtney. I'm not super in to the Twilight series as much as I used to be, but this movie was amazing. I loved it.
And that concludes those two months. I'll save the most recent update until next week when more exciting things happen :)

a little in love..... with black and white

i think i might have a little obsession with black and white :)

living the college dream....

Well, it has been quite awhile since i last posted anything on here..... I've been slacking. :P But fear not, it helps to have a roommate who also blogs. She kinda reminds me that i need to be better in this area. :)

Continuing from where I left off last time, which was I had just moved in to the lovely dorms down here at SUU. Which was wayyy back in August. Well actually, my last post was September 7th, but who is counting? Anywhoo, back to the lovely month of September. The first "real" month of school. I honestly can't remember what even happened the last week of August after I moved down here, but I'm sure it was interesting. :p Oh, I forgot to mention my lovely roommates. There are four of us in room 2302, and it can get pretty, well, interesting at times. There's Ashley from Vegas, Brittney from Riverton, and Annekke from good ol' PG. And of course there's me :)
Well, the first event that I am going to be telling about is the paint dance they had as part of "welcome week" for freshmen. It was...... interesting. Definitely not a dance that I was used to. It was fun, but more a mosh pit with paint being sprayed in your face. But it was alright. We all got creative with white t shirts :) Which then got covered in paint, that is still on the shirts, even after washing them. :p

Then we have the Cedar City Rodeo that Annekke, Ashley, and I went to on the 7th. Oh it was quite fantastic :) All them cowboys and such ;) It was so much fun! I can't believe I was missing out on so much fun stuff. And there was this guy who had six of the most beautiful black Percheron horses I have ever seen. He had them hooked up as if they were pulling a station wagon, and he was on the back two riding them. Standing up. Yeah, pretty epic. I think they called it 'Roman Riding' or something like that. Either way, it was amazing :)
On to the next item of business. I broke up with Chris the 13th. It was hard for me, but I had a great best friend/roommate to help me through it :)

Ummmmmm, Then we move on to the first home game of the football season :) We played the New Mexico Highlands, and won :) Super fun stuff. We got all decked out in all the red we could find :) Don't we look absolutely lovely? :) I thought high school football fans were spirited, but whoa was I wrong. The level of loudness and school spirit at college games is unbelievable, but awesome :) And dear Stephen. Oh that child. He is hilarious. :)  Annekke and I like to torture him sometimes :P But lovingly of course.

Next comes the day Annekke and I decided to bleach sections of our hair an oh so lovely blonde. It was interesting. I first bleached only a small strip of hair, and Annekke did the 'underlayer' of hers. Then I decided that I loved how that turned out, so I decided to do mine like that too :) And I loved how it turned out. Annekke ended up dying her whole head back to her natural color and got rid of the blonde, but I kept mine :P I LOVE it!

And now we move on to the Forever Red Celebration for Homecoming week. A Rocket to The Moon concert and True T-Bird night. Oh my goodness, that was an amazing concert! A Rocket to The Moon is one of my most favoritest bands ever :) And ohhh, the bass guitarist is such a beautiful man. :) I got some amazing shots of the band. Oh it was amazing :) And then at midnight we went and did True T-Bird night. Most people who went to college know what 'True nights' are. Unless you went to BYU. :P Anyways, Annekke, Ashley, and I, all went ( Brittney didn't go because she is engaged ), and all three of us are True T-Birds. ;) I am actually a True T- Bird x 3. Yes. Three boys kissed me. And I knew all three of them. Two of them from high school. I won't name them for their sakes :p But it was a pretty good night.

And the homecoming game. Oh that game. We played Montana State and got creamed. And our refs suck at their job. I don't even know anything about football, and I was calling more stuff that they should of. :P It was a super boring game too. Nothing really happened until third quarter. We did have super awesome homecoming shirts though. They said SUUper Heroes on the front. Pretty awesome :)
Conner and Shay also came down to visit for the weekend :) Oh how we missed them. And we also got our first taste of a college fraternity party. Not exactly what I was expecting. It was supposed to be a toga party, but Ashley (she is in Delta Omega Psi) told us to dress nice. She put Annekke, Shay and I in her dresses and it was super awkward. Annekke's dress was easily made modest, Shay's and mine weren't. Shay's was very low cut, and mine was a low cut halter. And Ashley wouldn't let us change. It didn't help that I was sunburned from the homecoming game either. Anyways, we went and walked around the Sigma Chi house for a while and seeing that there was nothing uplifting about it decided to leave. There was hooka, and the atmosphere was just plain uncomfortable. So Annekke, Conner, Shay and I left. It was quite an experience. And when we got back, we went over to Stephen's dorm and hung out there for a while. And we ended up sleeping there. Me, Conner, Shay, Annekke, Matt, Coby, and then Stephen and all 5 of his roommates. Annekke was on the floor, as were Conner and Shay. I was on the longest couch with Coby. and Matt was on the futon. Coby kind of fell asleep on my lap.... haha. I'll explain. So it was around 2:30 in the morning and everyone else was asleep but us. So we were going to sleep on opposite ends of the couch, and then ended up with my head on one end, and his feet on the other. He was laying on my stomach, while I was playing with his hair ( he loves when people do that ) and we fell asleep like that. And apparently whenever his head would move, my fingers would automatically start to play with his hair again..... I have strange fingers apparently. Then at about 6 he moved to the smaller couch. And that is the story of that weekend.
Oh, and we bought Betta fishes :) Both Annekke and my fish are red, but it's ok :) She named hers Stewart, and mine is named Vladimir. ( or Vlad for short ). And our floor had a 'mock-tail' party. It was semi fun. The drinks were alright. :P definitely something different.

Honestly, I'm just too tired to get into October, so I'll have to do that at the end of the month. In like four days :P

just a little catching up

Oh wow. It's been quite a while since I've posted anything on here. Where to start...I've already told about most of the beginning of the summer... so I suppose I'll tell about the rest :] I honestly can't remember what we even did in June, so I guess I'll start in July and go up until now, and if I remember June later I'll post about it when I remember it :p So.

The first thing I remember in July, is the PG fireworks show on the 4th. Chris tagged along with my family and him and I sat by ourselves and watched the fireworks :] It was FANTASTIC! I got some really good pictures of the fireworks :] Although, they were louder then I remembered. Anywhoo. Oooh, I almost forgot. The firework display was during the Alpine fire, so the mountain looked like an active volcano at times. Either that, or a village of cannibals having a very large bonfire... :p

I also went to an outdoor concert at the PG Promenade. Performed by none other than PG's own Bonne Nuit!!! ( who just happens to be AWESOME!!) just saying :] I took around 125 pictures just from this one concert. Oh man, the facial expressions people make when they get really into what they're doing are quite hilarious!!

Lets see, what else. Chris, Annekke and I went ice skating at Peaks in Provo. There was maybe 25 people on the ice the entire time we were there. It was super fun. I fell for the first time in like forever :p Oh, and don't even get me started on the drive home..... Lets just say I HATE construction with a burning passion of 100000000 suns. :p

There was a huge rainstorm one Monday, and Chris just happened to be over, so we went out and danced in the rain :] and I checked something off my bucket list ;] Kissing in the rain. Yep. It happened :]

On the 17, Chris took me on a double date with his parents. We went to Tepanyaki in Lehi. I ate my first piece of actual non breaded shrimp. Only because the cook dude threw it at my face wanting me to catch it in my mouth. Which I did. Chris couldn't do it. He tried..... twice :p Then we went to the Hale in West Jordan and saw The Sound of Music. It was actually really really good.

Annekke stayed over the weekend of the 21. Oh man we had fun :] Mud masks, $5 booty shorts at walmart, waaayyyy too much junk food, drawing with chalk, watching the new Footloose movie. Yeah, it was a party :]

I went to Ryan Coomb's Mission Farewell. And Isaac Makin's. Yeah. I feel old. People I grew up with are going on missions. Weird.

And. Oh. My. Gosh. I learned my lesson about tanning. Don't use the beds. Nuff said. I had a coupon for a free week of tanning so I used it. Needless to say, I got very burned... well red actually. But weeks later I had a tan.... a very weirdly spaced out tan. Yeah. Just don't use tanning beds. End of story.

Annekke had a Nerf gun/sword and scary movie night at her house. It was an EPIC blast :] We totally NERFED her house. Then we watched Wait Until Dark with Audry Hepburn. It wasn't all that scary until the guy she stabbed that was supposed to be dead reached out and grabbed her by the ankle. Everybody jumped at that part. Yeah. Needless to say, my fears of the dark just got worse.

I went to see Annekke and Chris perform in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the AF ampetheater. It was absolutely amazing!!!!

My family threw me a look 'whoo's going to college party. It was super cute!! There were owl cupcakes, cute little sodas, rice crispy treat "nests" with gumball "eggs" in them. Ohh it was awesome :] I love my fam!!!

I went on a group date to Temple Square with Chris, Annekke and Riley, and Shay and Conner. It was super fun :] We went to Chris's dad's restauraunt, Madaline's Steakhouse and Seafood. It was sooooo stinking good!!! And the cheesecake. Oh the cheesecake. It was a white chocolate raspberry cheesecake. SOOO GOOD!! Then we took tracks up to Temple Square. Then we went to Conner's band concert. LO FI RIOT!! They are so good :] And Chris smashed a car.

I moved up to SUU on the 22 of August. Yup. I am now a poor college student.
And now I am all caught up. :]

oh how I love me some roses

Lets just start this post off by me saying that this week has been the BEST week of my life :] I got a boyfriend ( who by the way is the sweetest boy on earth ), was given roses, and had my 2nd first kiss :]
So rose story first. I went down to visit him at work ( Little Ceasers) on Thursday after my institute class with Annekke, and brought him a subway sandwich. He had told me that he had a surprise for me when I came, but wouldn't hint what it was. So I got there and he went into the back for a few minutes then came out with something behind his back. I was kinda freaking out at this point. Then he pulls out a dozen of the most beautiful pink roses I have ever seen :] The people in the store were looking at us funny, but I didn't care. I got roses from the sweetest boy :]

And now onto the kiss.......
So Friday night Chris, Annekke and I went to Maceys and got Nutella and Chips Ahoy then walked over to Sonic to eat them. Haha it was FUNNY!!  This was also when we figured out our song. Smile by Uncle Kracker "] Perfect fit "] Then I went to take Chris home, and susupposedly meet his aunt and uncle. So we get to his house, and he knocks at the door but no one answers, so we just stand there hugging for a good 20 minutes. Then Annekke yelled out a quote from asdf movie 5....... " hey, you guys should kiss!!!" Chris shot back with, " Shut up! We're having a moment!" haha oh how I love my friends.  Anyways, so we were having a "moment" and he told me he loved me, then was staring at me and started leaning down and then BAM!!! No, it was quite romantic :] Amazing actually.

Yeah, this week has been like a dream for me :] And there's much more to come.......Annekke and I have like 20 double dates planned for the summer :] This will be the BEST summer EVER!!!
